Wild weather was the talk the morning of the Polly McQuinns to Gooram Falls sequel walk. With hot, dry winds dominating the forecasts, and a total fire ban announced less than 24 hours before the walk, the stakes were high. But luck always seems to be on our side, with the cool gorge air flowing down the Sevens Creek for nearly the whole duration of the walk.
This route was our very first riparian walk, and is as popular now as it was then. With over 25 eager trekkers, this proved to be another fantastic walk. This is one of the all time greats within the Strathbogie Ranges, with every new corner feeling like a completely different walk. Stunning rocky gorges, cascading waterfalls, sheer granite walls and deep, serene pools of water just a few of the highlights that make this walk so special.
Starting at the Polly McQuinns weir, the route down to Gooram Falls with simple, yet challenging. Steep ascents, multiple creek crossing and fiendishly steep ascents and descents kept walkers on their toes (or bums) and made for a walk as rewarding as it was challenging. Access was simple, with car parks at the top and bottom, and a public reserve down each side of the creek meaning that no permissions were needed from private property owners.
Thanks to all of those who braved the warm weather, and those who volunteered their time and vehicles to make the car shuffle so fast and easy.
