The new SheilaInc Gallery in Binney Street, Euroa was humming with excitement on the opening night of the Lepidoptera Art Exhibition. Artists and patrons of the arts crowded into the gallery to enjoy the works .
Kate Auty , Commissioner for Environmental Sustainability , opened the exhibition and awarded the prize for the piece that best portrayed the theme of ‘ Lepidoptera, biodiversity and the natural environment’ . Sculptor Peter King won this award for an intricate metal composition which can be viewed at the Euroa Arboretum.
Exhibits were displayed beautifully in this new space . Twenty local artists contributed to the exhibition . Primary School children from Euroa and Avenel produced some excellent butterfly themed paintings and wool felt work which added colour and humour to the gallery and overflowed into the Euroa Library and Arboretum.
Gallery owner, Tess Noonan- Egan and Penny Algar, SRCMN secretary & art exhibition coordinator, did a great job coordinating the delivery and display of the works.
The exhibition will be open until 25th November from 10am to 5pm . Many pieces are for sale . Please ask for a catologue to check prices and read the artists profiles.
There is a prize for the peoples choice , so please vote for favourite work before next Saturday.
